As we are into 2026, this moment offers more than a calendar transition—it offers clarity. The past year tested assumptions, accelerated adoption, and forced recalibration across technology, business, and society.

For me personally, 2025 was a milestone year. After reflecting on two decades in the industry, I published my second book, Jagjeevan: Living Larger Than Life, in both Hindi and English, while continuing to engage readers through Exploring the Metaverse. I contributed over 30 articles and papers across IoT solutions, XR AI → GenAi → Agentic AI, and motivation, participated in 10+ global forums and standards discussions, and was fortunate to see two patents granted along the way.

But beyond personal milestones,

2025 will be remembered as the year AI stopped being an experiment and became an assumption. It was the year the industry tested AI-first thinking at scale—and learned where it breaks.

Below are my five key observations from 2025, and how I see them evolving in 2026.

1. The Age of Abundant AI Content—and the Return of Human Value

2025 flooded the world with AI-generated content: blogs, ads, music, videos, images, 3D assets, even books. Content became cheap, fast, and everywhere—and paradoxically, less valuable.

Social media was already saturated with influence-driven narratives; AI influencers only amplified the trust deficit. We are reaching to a point where volume erasing the meaning.

I spoke about this in my recent session, “The Heart and Mind of Authorship: What Makes Writing Human in an AI Era”, where I shared how I used AI while writing Jagjeevan. AI helped with grammar, flow, structure, and language, but never with intent. I repeatedly reminded my “intelligent but obedient assistant”:

Don’t tell me what to write. Help me say what I already mean. 

That distinction matters.

2026 Outlook

The soul of content will matter more than its scale.

2. From GenAI to Agentic AI: Automation Learns to Act

2025 was the breakout year for Agentic AI.

We moved beyond content generation and search into reasoning, decision-making, and action. AI agents started performing real tasks—handling calls, qualifying leads, scheduling meetings, following up, even troubleshooting. Ref : AI Receptionist.

Receptionists, sales assistants, HR coordinators, trip planners, healthcare, education and more have an agent equivalent.

This isn’t just rebranding. This is a paradigm shift.

2026 Outlook

Agents will stay—but only those designed with humanity in mind will succeed.

3. AI-First Modernization (Not AI-Only)

2025 taught us a hard lesson: AI-first does not mean AI-only.

AI-First Software Delivery (AIFSD) rose rapidly—tools that could design, code, test, deploy, and monitor systems end-to-end. We built demos before products existed. Speed was astonishing.

But maintenance told a different story.

Fixing AI-generated systems—especially without human context—was often harder than building from scratch. Specs mattered more than ever. When intent was unclear, AI amplified the confusion.

2026 Outlook

AI is a multiplier—but only when humans set direction.

4. Standardization Returns to Emerging Tech

2025 reignited momentum in XR, spatial computing, digital twins, robotics and immersive intelligence. Platforms like Android XR and expanding Meta ecosystems signal maturity—not fragmentation.

What’s next is convergence.

2026 Outlook

Innovation scales only when foundations stabilize.

5. The Rediscovery of Human Work

Remote vs. office debates faded in 2025. What remained was more fundamental: the value of work itself.

AI raised productivity—but also surfaced a deeper truth: intelligence without humanity has no meaning. The question is no longer “Will AI replace us?” but “Where must humans remain essential?

This aligns deeply with the vision I outlined in Exploring the Metaverse—a future where immersive AI enhances human potential rather than erasing it.

Conclusion: Humanity Evolves, Not Disappears

2025 shattered illusions. It showed us what AI can do—and where it must stop. It reminded us that technology without values scales risk, not progress.

As we step into 2026, the opportunity is clear: Build AI that serves humans, not replaces them. Design systems that amplify meaning, not noise.

The future isn’t artificial. It’s augmented—with intention.

Abstract: Swarm intelligence, inspired by the collective behaviour of natural systems such as ant colonies, bird flocks, and fish schools, has emerged as a promising paradigm for addressing complex problems in various domains. This paper synthesizes the existing literature on swarm intelligence principles and their applications in organizational leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving. The review studies in this paper demonstrate the effectiveness of swarm intelligence in enhancing decision-making agility, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing, promoting adaptive and inclusive leadership, and driving organizational resilience and success. Drawing on diverse examples from both theoretical research and practical applications, we explore how organizations can leverage swarm intelligence principles to navigate uncertainty, foster innovation, and achieve sustainable growth. Insights from this review contribute to a deeper understanding of swarm intelligence as a powerful tool for enhancing organizational effectiveness and leadership in today’s dynamic and rapidly changing business environment.

Introduction

Swarm intelligence (SI), inspired by the decentralized and self-organizing behaviors of biological systems such as ant colonies, bird flocks, and fish schools, has emerged as a powerful paradigm for collective decision-making and complex problem-solving. Originally conceptualized within cellular robotic systems, SI has evolved into a multidisciplinary framework spanning artificial intelligence, healthcare, robotics, and organizational management. This paper synthesizes foundational theories, computational models, and contemporary applications of SI, with particular emphasis on its implications for leadership, organizational dynamics, and adaptive decision architectures. Through an integrative literature review, the study examines algorithmic models such as Ant Colony Optimization and Particle Swarm Optimization, alongside Artificial Swarm Intelligence systems that amplify human collective judgment in high-stakes domains such as medical diagnostics and financial forecasting. Empirical findings indicate that swarm-based systems enhance decision accuracy, reduce cognitive bias, and increase responsiveness in volatile environments. The paper further conceptualizes swarm intelligence as a leadership framework characterized by decentralization, collaborative problem-solving, inclusivity, and emergent coordination. Practical applications across supply chain management, healthcare, smart infrastructure, human resource development, and crisis management are examined to illustrate operational feasibility. While the benefits of swarm-based governance structures are significant, challenges including ethical oversight, algorithmic bias, implementation barriers, and cultural variability warrant careful consideration. The study concludes that swarm intelligence provides a robust theoretical and practical foundation for enhancing organizational resilience and sustainable performance in complex, rapidly evolving environments.

Inspired by the coordinated behavior of ant colonies, bird flocks, fish schools, and other decentralized biological systems, swarm intelligence demonstrates how simple agents, operating under local rules and without centralized control, can produce sophisticated and adaptive global outcomes. Originally introduced by Gerardo Beni and Jing Wang in 1989 in the context of cellular robotic systems, the concept has evolved into a powerful interdisciplinary framework influencing artificial intelligence, organizational leadership, robotics, healthcare, and management sciences.

In the realm of organizational leadership and management, swarm intelligence offers a profound shift from hierarchical command-and-control structures toward adaptive, distributed leadership models. Modern organizations operate in volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous environments. Traditional centralized decision structures often struggle under such dynamism. Swarm principles propose that resilience emerges when decision authority is distributed, communication channels are open, and local expertise is empowered. Research on collective intelligence and the “wisdom of crowds” supports this notion, demonstrating that diverse groups frequently outperform homogenous expert panels when decision processes are structured effectively.

Organizations that apply swarm-inspired practices tend to emphasize decentralized decision-making, rapid feedback loops, and iterative prototyping. Agile methodologies in technology firms exemplify this approach. Cross-functional teams collaborate autonomously, adjusting direction based on real-time data and stakeholder feedback. In such systems, leadership becomes facilitative rather than directive. Leaders cultivate environments that enable interaction, coordination, and psychological safety rather than issuing prescriptive mandates.

Swarm intelligence also aligns strongly with contemporary leadership paradigms such as adaptive leadership, inclusive leadership, and shared leadership. Inclusive leadership recognizes that diversity strengthens collective intelligence by broadening the cognitive solution space. These practices enhance organizational agility, knowledge sharing, and resilience while reducing bottlenecks inherent in rigid hierarchies.

Despite its transformative potential, swarm intelligence is not universally applicable without context. Organizational culture significantly influences its effectiveness. Resistance to decentralization, limited digital infrastructure, short-term evaluation metrics, and insufficient leadership commitment can constrain implementation. Additionally, measuring collective intelligence outcomes poses methodological challenges because constructs such as innovation capacity or collaboration effectiveness are multidimensional and dynamic. Longitudinal research remains essential to assess sustained impact over time.

Nevertheless, the trajectory of swarm intelligence signals a paradigm shift. It reframes leadership from individual authority to systemic orchestration. It redefines intelligence from isolated cognition to emergent coordination. It reconceptualizes problem-solving as iterative exploration across distributed networks rather than linear hierarchical planning. The fundamental insight is elegant yet powerful: when structured appropriately, decentralized agents interacting locally can generate extraordinary global solutions.

In conclusion, swarm intelligence represents a robust and evolving framework for enhancing decision-making, leadership effectiveness, organizational resilience, and technological innovation. Drawing from biology, artificial intelligence, complexity theory, and management science, it provides a scientifically grounded yet practically adaptable model for navigating modern complexity. As research deepens and interdisciplinary integration expands, swarm intelligence will likely continue shaping the future of collective problem-solving and organizational design. Its promise lies not merely in algorithms or robotics but in reimagining how humans collaborate, adapt, and lead in an increasingly interconnected world.

History shows that any new human-replacement tech is bound to suffer massive initial setbacks as humans always feared being replaced by something far more efficient and dependable, and also a human-creation which always succeeds, eventually!

(They must have even detested those creative / inventive humans, as suicidal or self-defeating ?)

Sabotage by affected parties?

Humans first resorted to sabotage of such tech / inventions, as in the case of the Sewing Machine, the first few prototypes of which were totally destroyed by smashing them onto the streets, by the protesting Seamstresses and their supporters.

Even those earliest prototypes, built by the inventor, Barthelemy Thimonnier, were so superior, they stitched with seams (joints or stitches) stronger than the basic cloth. No wonder the seamstresses feared loss of job! They were faster too!

The Teleprinter

Then there were skillful, agile Morse Decoding operators at telegraph offices. Only to be replaced by Telex or Teleprinter (invention of Reichspost ) which directly printed the (German / English) text on to a paper issuing out of a paper roll.

We could see, in WW II movies, these early adaptations of the Typewriter machines fitted with electromechanical solenoid-like add-ons operating the typewriter keys, then known as “Teletyping”. The intelligent and ultra-fast Morse Code technicians all got replaced en masse?

Telex itself was replaced by Fax (Facsimile) machine which just transmitted the handwritten, even signed (signature-added) message, not having to dictate and manually type a message as typewriter keys inputs.

Farm mechanization

Harry Ferguson invented the land tilling / ploughing tractor and demonstrated it in the UN Assembly, as a tool to feed the millions of hungry human beings of the world, by speeding up the crop farming process. Sowing, Reaping machines, combine-harvesters followed suit.(Massey Ferguson, the collaborators of TAFE – Tractors And Farm Equipments Ltd., Chennai, India are an offshoot of this inventor-company). So, mechanization of non-intelligent, skilled labour might have been relatively easier, compared to AI.

Computers Vs Humans

When computers came, lots of clerks and qualified, experienced employees felt their worst enemy has come. Long back, at ISI (Indian Statistical Institute), Kolkata there were massive demonstrations against the IBM computer that was just arriving. That IBM Mainframe was perhaps one of the first 3 computers to be imported into India.

AI making inroads despite initial hiccups

Self-Repairing and Self-Replicating robots have already made inroads as early as the 2010s.

An MNC GCC (Global Capability Center) in India is considering , within a year, a cadre reduction of junior staff from 495 to 5 with AI adoption.

16,000 employees replaced by AI at Amazon. Menial jobs at Logistics positions in their Warehouse too are being replaced by dexterous robots. It can get more ruthless. Brace yourself.

A Tesla autonomous car, couple of years back in the USA, fatally crashed into a crossing truck at an intersection as the colour of the truck was similar to the background evening sky. Such errors are far fewer in between now as AI is fast improving.

So, AI in its present form of either Alpha or Beta version may suffer setbacks but ultimately replace “huge swathes” of skillful / expert humans. It is a fact. It may be only a matter of time?

Thank the inventor-folks — if you are an AI hater — releasing untested or unfixed (of bugs) versions hastily into the market only to face market backfire!

Thus the hopefuls of those sticking along in the job develop a false sense of superiority — even job security? — that they, being humans, can never be replaced. They are just sitting ducks.

But the Autonomous cars of today, for instance, are far more advanced. Equipped with NVIDIA high performance, high speed chips and MATLAB mathematical concepts, and myriad sensors, these cars can “see” and identify the road users (humans) and objects. The sensor-fusion LIDAR camera  can identify if it is a fog, or a bush, or is it a human being ahead of it in the road. Also, from the angle between the standing person’s legs, that is, if the legs are apart, the vehicle senses that the person ahead, on the sidewalk, may move in the path of the vehicle. The vehicle even verifies if the person / pedestrian has seen the vehicle approaching or not. If he or she is unaware of the vehicle approaching, the vehicle is even more cautious, ever ready to apply the brakes. If a ball comes rolling across the road ahead, the AI of the car even expects a child chasing or following the ball. This tech is known as ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems).

Such ADAS incorporates TCS (Traction Control System), ESP (Electronic Stability Program) which integrates suspension, steering and braking systems and many others as one cohesive system to make the modern day car nearly like a living being (a 4-legged, agile animal) with locomotion – and almost as sure-footed as a mountain-goat!

Recently, it was reported that the AI-enabled surgical robots were making mistakes due to the robot wrongly identifying some human anatomical zones / organs. But, the experts are exhorting that a mixed approach of human experts (surgeons) assisting the AI-enabled robots will be more practical, till the dependability of AI improves.

Samsung which invented the internet-enabled Refrigerator around the year 1997 is now marketing AI-enabled Fridges which suggest a cooking recipe based on the fridge contents. The rice-and-dried-fish-to-electronics-chips giant is tasting success after success.

Aspiring Post Graduate Students are banking on Chat GPT/Gemini for the SOP (Statement Of Purpose) for admission into elite universities of USA. It will be only a matter of time before they find out what the selecting Professor likes in a prospect student and infuse those into the Report. Such AI tools are triumphantly used by students for the Project Work, doctoral thesis also.

The likely Forerunners of AI

 In the late 1970s, Alfred Teves GmbH of Germany, (now Conti tech), developed car Disc Brakes with Disc wear (Dashboard) indicators which are just an electric circuit-completing terminal embedded into each Brake Pad. Then the Brake Fluid level indicators of the Fluid Reservoirs followed. For dual brakes, there was a  tiny piston, in parallel, which was balanced by equal fluid pressure on both ends and the loss of pressure by brake fluid leak of any one brake circuit will push this piston to activate a micro-switch for Dashboard Alert. This warned the driver of the partial brake failure and that the stopping distance will be nearly double. Such primitive pure electro-mechanical sensing devices in-built into mechanical assemblies might have inspired the embedded systems which came later. These have morphed into advanced sensors and actuators of today.

Bertram Raphael of SRI (Stanford Research Institute), Author of the book, The Thinking Computer, used to research on AI Robots and Machine Vision as far back as 1968.

Why the successful  advent of AI is certain?

 There are now scientific ways to accurately capture, collate the knowledge of thousands of experts, like lawyers, brain or kidney, or heart surgeons, and organize them in an orderly fashion for assimilation by machines / artificial systems for designing the algorithms.

Statistics and Probability Sciences, high speed Processors, advanced Reliability Testing
methods and entrepreneurs willing to invest in these abound. Aided by cash-rich corporations which suffer at the hands of unionised highly skilled labour, AI sweep is now imminent with the advent of advancements of Data Sciences.

First it was Parallel Processing of Supercomputers, then High Speed Processing, then High Performance Computing but now it is Quantum Computing using Cloud.

According to a Readers’ Digest article, the more diverse or varied are the subjects a human brain holds, the more creative and imaginative the brain becomes. But, even the most advanced brain is not as good as an artificial chip which can capture the intelligence of thousands of Subject Matter (Domain) Experts as an AI System.

We have seen Cyborgs, Sci-Fi Terminator movies, and now, even the brain thought process has been mapped.  Ethical questions apart, AI is certainly the future. The extreme electric power and cooling water thirst of AI Supercomputers will also need to be addressed by the society.

Biomimicry

Right from the bats which inspired the RADAR and SONAR and the honeybees which made men invent the DuPont Nomex honeycomb panels of Aircrafts and Satellites, Nature has been inspiring (non-materialistic) Intelligence also. Thank God, they don’t sue us for Copyright Infringement!

Did we say, we can gather the knowledge of thousands of experts? We were wrong! We should have said that not only thousands of human experts but also from Mother Nature. That is, from all living creatures, and also non-living matter — their survival tactics, behaviours, communication and reproduction methods, self-preservation strategies,  proliferation, extreme tenacity, thriving in adverse conditions — like the strange organism / bacteria which survives on nuclear reactor cores, how they mitigate risks, etc. Man has to just look at Nature for exceptional, effective solutions for his managerial, financial, family, engineering, emotional problems. The solutions for millions of problems of humankind are already staring at man, from Nature. Already analogies among Nature, Universe, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Hydraulics Engineering can be seen and studied / compared against each other.

Quest for excellence – a Triumph of Life?

The more are the failures encountered by AI experts, the more determined they are driven to perfect and excel in their outputs. Be it heavier-than-air flight, Space Research, vaccines, or Defence Tech, the humans thrive on challenges.

Human civilization always stands on the shoulders of the discoveries, inventions, patents and the ensuing advancements of the (primitive) previous generations, to reach for the sky and the capabilities and potential of the culmination of the diverse knowledge domains of today — which reinforce each other exponentially in effect, and their myriad combinations are infinite.

Already there’s a massive chips shortage, experienced in the automotive, home appliances sectors, driven by the surge in AI Systems demands.

Those who are adamant in not unlearning their outdated knowledge and unwilling to adapt to the changing times – by re skilling / Up Skilling – will be the losers?

Written for two of my all time Favourites, and with very due respects to other fellow Champions. As in Business Excellence, Sporting Excellence is achieved by methodical, consistent processes which are colloquially known as Practice.

It’s more often Repeatability which leads to Reliability, very much as in the case of Businesses. Errors and Variances, end up in Results. Failures are then used by Champions for RCAs (Root Cause Analysis) and CAPAs (Corrective & Preventive Actions). This ensures Failure is not an End and Success is Never Final, for Sustained Successes, much similar to Business requirements.

They may not be typical Naturals….but they have matured enough to reinvent themselves…reminding the rest in the field and to whom it matters, its still better to have them very much in the scheme of things…One a Cricketer and the other a Tennis Player.

It’s more than a liking and loving…it’s not a mere Fan Moment, which i resist to confine myself to….

The King Kohli and The Super Consistent Djoko….both of whom still stand shoulder to shoulder with Young Guns and Raw Talents…Yet again, i will hold myself from calling them Geniuses…

As I submit this piece to their 4Ds – Drive, Determination, Discipline and of course Dedication, Hard Work apart. Money did not change them. Fame did not change them. And more importantly Age did not defy them what they deserve.

Qualities which i liberally subscribe whenever i get an opportunity to address Budding Professionals and Entrepreneurs. For me these two are Sporting Professionals, much beyond being good players – in addition to being icons, who have brought in new dimensions the way each of their sport is played.

Only wish, we shall be lucky enough and be a privileged lot to watch them for some more time.

Meanwhile, dangerous and critical work (e.g., hot work, work at height, work in hazardous areas, servicing during plant operation) does not happen according to an “ideal plan” — it happens in a dynamic, changing environment. This is why classic work orders often lose out to reality: they are not updated, they are not consistent with who is actually where, and they do not create a single version of the truth for health and safety, maintenance, and external companies.

What Is the GhostPairing Attack?

GhostPairing is not a flaw in WhatsApp encryption. It is an abuse of WhatsApp’s legitimate “Linked Devices” feature, combined with psychological manipulation.

The attacker convinces a victim to unknowingly authorize an external device, creating a silent “ghost” session that mirrors chats in real time.

How the GhostPairing Attack Works (Step-by-Step)

Is ASI – Artificial Super Intelligence here? Are T-1000 Terminator machines appearing?

Remember the Terminator movies, where Arnold plays the killer/savior Cyborg from the future? The line ‘Hasta la vista baby’ or See You Later? Several films have portrayed robots and cyborgs as good and evil machines. But are they the future of ASI?

Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI) is a conceptual construct of the future stage of AI. ASI will feature systems that supersede areas or domains of human cognitive capabilities. Some of the domains are cognitive skills, creativity, reasoning, and problem-solving.

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, terms the era of ASI “The Intelligence Age.” This is when computers manage to improve on many complex tasks that only humans can do. He says that ‘deep learning has really worked. Algorithms are developed that truly learn any distribution of data, and the underlying rule to compute and give better results.

Mo Gawdat, in his book, cautions us and argues that ASI will surpass human abilities, think, see into the future, predict outcomes, and even use sensors to see around physical and virtual corners. ASI bots will certainly help humans to solve problems, provide healthcare, and improve the quality of life.

Popular movies and books however paint a dystopian and malevolent view of ASI. This perception is reinforced by sci-fi movies like M3Gan, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Blade Runner, Westworld, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ex Machina, and many more, where AI bots are evil. They subjugate humans, create wars, and so on. These fantasy movies should not be taken seriously.

However, what if the nightmare becomes true? Find out what ASI is, technology, use cases in this blog.

What are AI Levels

It is essential to understand the various levels of AI and what each level can do. AI is defined at seven levels, from Level 1 to Level 7. Figure 1 illustrates the 7 levels and what AI does at each level.

L1 is the basic level and uses rules and logic circuits to automate some tasks. It is used mainly to reduce manual work. We are now at L3 and L4. Cyborgs and other entities are at Level 7+ and can be termed as ASI.

However, ASI will need exponentially advanced processors, hardware, a new environment or operating system, and programming languages. Likely systems in the future are discussed in the next section.

What future chips and Hardware are needed for ASI

Full-blown Artificial superintelligence will require a new generation and class of chips and processors, and advanced quantum computers. While these techs are not yet built, an assessment of future hardware and chips is speculated below.

MeTTa, or Meta Type Talk, is a new programming language from OpenCog Hyperon. It is the language of thought and provides fundamental and general functionalities to handle symbols, groundings, variables, types, substitutions, and pattern matching.

The main objective of MeTTa is to provide a robust, flexible, and mathematically grounded foundation for developing ASI. It is used for human developers to script AI processes and for AI algorithms themselves to perform learning and reasoning activities.

MeTTa is the firmware that holds components of the OpenCog Hyperon cognitive architecture, allowing for seamless interoperability between diverse AI modules such as neural networks and probabilistic logic networks. It is the core running environment for the ASI Chain, a layer-1 blockchain infrastructure for decentralized AI applications.

This is the most important question of artificial superintelligence. ‘How and where will artificial superintelligence be used?’ Let us look at areas where artificial superintelligence can be implemented for positive impacts.

Military use cases of ASI

Remember Skynet, the malevolent ASI from Terminator that took over humanity? Not sure if this will happen. But artificial superintelligence has several critical military use cases that are beyond current human and AI applications. It is expected to transform warfare and defense strategies.

The list is endless, as seen in several movies. However, the costs and resources needed to build these systems will probably exceed the global GDP. So, you can relax for now.

Can ASI take over humanity?

Manuel Alfonseca et al. argue that while ASI will be invaluable, it should be contained and secured so that it does not ‘escape’ and create a catastrophe for the world. One problem is that ASI will have all the knowledge that humans have, and it will figure out a way to crack the containment.

The concept of AI “taking over” humanity as narrated in science fiction is a speculative and controversial topic. Advanced artificial superintelligence can pose significant risks if not developed responsibly. A rogue military dictator or an evil corporation can attempt this exercise.

Such an effort will need massive, massive computing resources, global collaboration, and augmentation of human capabilities. This may not happen. However, one can never predict the irrational actions of deranged leaders.

Can artificial superintelligence compose original classics of Clapton, Willie, Waylon, Dolly, Emmylou, JP, IM, Motorhead, and other Monsters of Rock? An emphatic No! Once in a lifetime, geniuses created these classics, and ASI will attempt to copy them. I hope this never happens.
