Capital Goods & Strategic Skill Council (CGSSC), in partnership with Tata Consulting Engineers (TCE), today launched Project UTKARSH, a CSR-led skilling initiative to equip engineering students with industry-relevant skills and prepare them for careers in India’s growing EPC, and manufacturing infrastructure sector, along with the launch of CGSSC’s newsletter, ‘Yantrashilp’. The programme was inaugurated at Don Bosco Technical Institute (DBTI), Okhla, New Delhi, in the presence of senior government, industry and skilling leaders from TCE, CBC and CGSSC.

Project UTKARSH has been designed to bridge the gap between technical education and industry requirements by offering industry aligned training in three critical engineering disciplines—Civil Design, Piping & Instrumentation Design, and Electrical Design. The initiative will initially benefit technical/ vocational students across Delhi-NCR and Jamshedpur, equipping them with industry-relevant competencies and enhancing their employability.

CGSSC is an apex skill body with representation from industries like Larsen & Tourbo, MSME, pan-India trade associations for the empowerment of capital goods manufacturing and engineering services, and strategic manufacturing sectors. The recent initiative with TCE (Tata Consulting Engineers) for their ‘Utakarsh’ – a CSR Initiative is a step towards providing industry skilled workforce, quality training in technical domain for sustainable livelihood with the society in manufacturing industries infrastructure.

CGSSC has developed these programmes in collaboration with TCE by creating specialised trades’ Qualification Packs aligned with the Skill India. With a portfolio of more than 60 industry-driven Qualification Packs across capital goods, advanced manufacturing, Industry 4.0 and strategic sectors, CGSSC continues to play a pivotal role in developing a future-ready workforce that meets the evolving needs of Indian industry.

Speaking at the launch, Chief Guest Ms. Alka Mittal, Member, Capacity Building Commission (CBC), said, “this initiative is about creating opportunities and unlocking the potential of our young people. Through hands-on learning, industry exposure and employability-focused training, we want every student to move forward with greater confidence and skills. India’s youth are our greatest strength, and by investing in their capabilities today, we are building a more skilled, confident and future-ready nation.”

Addressing the gathering, Ms. Nidhi Mehandiratta, CHRO & CSR Head, Tata Consulting Engineers, said, “The vision behind this programme is to prepare young people to shape the future of the nation. We have already seen encouraging results, with nearly 600 students completing the programme. EVTOL: Navigating Certifications, Air Mobility Regulations, and Battery Energy Density

In March 2026, commercialization was pushed forward in the U.S. When the FAA selected six eVTOL companies including Joby and Archer to move forward into a second phase of its eIPP allowing pre-certified aircraft to begin operating in a controlled environment.

Increased global regulatory cooperation occurred in June 2026 when the FAA and EASA met to discuss the alignment of certification standards-a necessary precursor to allowing aircraft certified in one region to operate efficiently in another. Battery Chemistry and Energy Density: The Key to eVTOL Scalability

Vertex states that the future growth of the eVTOL sector will be greatly determined by battery technology. Jet fuel provides a very high energy density, but current batteries offer a significantly lower energy density and therefore range, payload capacity and operational efficiency. One difficulty in operating eVTOL craft is that there are two distinct power requirements – one to provide a high power burst for landing, takeoff and hovering and another for sustainable, efficient flight (cruise flight). Conventional battery chemistries are unable to provide both a high power and energy density simultaneously, prompting eVTOL manufacturers to develop a combination of different battery chemistries, with one system used for landing, takeoff and hovering flight, and another used for cruise flight.

As per Vertex Market Research, the eVTOL technology road-map indicates a steady increase in battery energy densities; current aviation-grade lithium ion batteries achieve energy densities in the range 250-300Wh/kg and are capable of short-range operations. The arrival of semi-solid state and silicon-anode batteries with higher energy densities of 300-350Wh/kg are projected to deliver a 30-50% increase in range. Further ahead, solid-state and lithium-metal batteries with predicted energy densities exceeding 400-500Wh/kg may deliver substantial increases in flight range, higher payloads and improved economics. ANYbotics, a global leader in AI-powered robotic inspection solutions, today announced the opening of its new office at DFactory Barcelona. The new engineering and artificial intelligence hub in Barcelona will be the company’s third global location, alongside Zurich and San Francisco, and will help meet the growing demand for its autonomous inspection solutions in asset- and process-intensive industrial sectors. This expansion follows a period of strong growth for ANYbotics, at a time when companies in the oil, energy and gas, chemicals, metals, and process industries in general are moving from pilot projects to large-scale deployments of its autonomous inspection robots. SIL 2026 closes a successful edition that welcomed 15,412 visitors from 87 countries, 93% of whom have decision-making capacity in their companies’ logistics activities.

SIL Barcelona, organized by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB), concludes today its 28th edition, having welcomed 15,412 visitors from 87 countries, with the participation of more than 600 companies, 30% of them international, and the hosting of more than 200 events. These very positive figures are further confirmed by networking data from the digital platform SIL virtual IA Platform (SILvIA), which recorded more than 5,500 interactions. Over the three days of the event, 7,632 digital contact exchanges, 2,976 meeting requests, and more than 10,000 messages between attendees were registered.

The Executive President of CZFB and President of SIL, Pere Navarro, gave a very positive assessment of this year’s edition and highlighted that “adaptability is one of the most outstanding characteristics of the logistics sector because everything is in constant motion. At this year’s SIL, we have seen how dynamic and disruptive this sector is, as demonstrated by the more than 160 innovations presented by participating companies”. Navarro also added that “SIL 2026 featured 30% international participating companies and visitors from more than 87 countries, who come to Barcelona to discover the latest sector trends, but also to connect with all links in the supply chain, with companies that are innovating, and to discover different technologies. It has been a very positive edition”.

For her part, Blanca Sorigué, Director General of CZFB and SIL, stressed that “93% of the professionals who visited SIL 2026 told us they are involved in decision-making within their respective companies. For me, this is the key indicator that demonstrates SIL’s strength, as many participating companies have told us they made high-quality contacts, generating clear business opportunities”.

Here are a few that most product leaders will probably recognize:

  • Where is the growth coming from?

  • What decision are we trying to influence?
  • What assumption are we making, and how do we know it’s true?
  • What does success actually look like?
  • Is this aspirational enough?

I thought it was amazing from the start.

Not because it could mimic a review process, but because it reinforced something important about great product leadership.

Good product managers learn to anticipate users. They study behavior, signals, and patterns closely enough to understand what customers will need, where friction exists, and what is likely to happen next.

The best product organizations learn to anticipate in a similar way.

Over time, teams internalize the standards, questions, and ways of thinking that lead to better outcomes. Consistent coaching creates shared instincts. Eventually, people stop preparing for the review and start building with those expectations in mind from the start.

The real value here isn’t automation. It’s elevation.

Human time is more valuable than ever. If AI can help teams sharpen the narrative, tighten the logic, pressure-test assumptions, identify gaps, and connect recommendations to measurable outcomes before we meet, then the time we spend together can focus on harder problems, more complex tradeoffs, and the strategic conversations that actually move the business forward.

The best teams don’t wait for review meetings to know what good looks like. They build toward it from the beginning.

And no, I’m not worried about being replaced by AI. I’m excited about what happens when AI helps us get through the first rounds of feedback faster so we can spend more time tackling the harder problems, asking better questions, and raising the level of the conversation together.

Air logistics using drones in airport and urban environments, artificial vision systems on cranes for ship loading, fully electric loading docks, energy communities and smart grids in logistics parks, 100% recyclable agricultural fibre pallets, customised charging points for electric vehicles, automated measurement systems for bulky goods, conversational Artificial Intelligence (AI) for logistics decision-making, and AI applied to human capital transformation to ensure generational renewal in road transport, are among the solutions that can be found at this year’s fair.

The Logistics 4.0 Incubator, the High‑Tech Logistics 4.0 incubator promoted by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) with the support of the Fundación INCYDE of the Spanish Chambers of Commerce, presented this morning 19 new startups joining its ecosystem. The Executive President of CZFB, Pere Navarro, and the Director General of CZFB, Blanca Sorigué, welcomed the new startups to the Logistics 4.0 Incubator at an event that highlighted the incubator’s role as a driving force for innovation and transformation in the logistics sector.

During the welcome event, Pere Navarro highlighted that “logistics is about making products and services reach where they need to go, when they are needed, and today it is more strategic than ever. We are living in a time in which digitalization, artificial intelligence, and sustainability are transforming everything, including our cities and the way we live and work. At the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona, we understand public service as the creation of opportunities, jobs, and progress through innovation. And that is exactly what happens every day at this Logistics 4.0 Incubator.”

In her remarks, Blanca Sorigué highlighted that “today’s event demonstrates the maturity and strong appeal of the Logistics 4.0 Incubator as a real growth environment for innovative projects. We are seeing how incubated startups validate, scale and compete in the market with practical, high‑impact solutions. Our goal is to support them throughout their entire development process and accelerate their connection with the business ecosystem. A Project in Continuous Growth

 The Logistics 4.0 Incubator, operational since July 2023, has already incubated a total of 79 projects and boasts a survival rate of 91.3% among its incubated startups. Likewise, over nearly three years of activity, it has generated several success stories, including companies that are already reporting revenues of over €5 million, others with workforces exceeding 60 employees, and businesses serving more than 100 clients. With the addition of these 19 new startups, the incubator currently hosts 44 active startups, further consolidating its position as one of Europe’s leading hubs for logistics and technological entrepreneurship and innovation.

The Logistics 4.0 Incubator focuses on a range of emerging technological areas within the logistics sector, notably robotics and automated warehouses, the Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data applied to business insight generation, last‑mile logistics as a strategic element of e‑commerce, as well as technologies such as 3D printing, Artificial Intelligence and green logistics.

19 New Startups Strengthening the Ecosystem

The 19 startups joining the Logistics 4.0 Incubator are developing highly innovative solutions that address a wide range of needs within the logistics sector. Below is a brief description of each of these emerging companies:

• AVANZZA (Madrid), a SaaS platform specialised in the end‑to‑end management of the land transport lifecycle, with a focus on heavy transport and container operations for exports and imports.

• BlueGreen Vision (Barcelona), a deep‑tech startup that develops solutions for the regeneration of marine ecosystems in port environments.

• Bluepoint AI (Lima, Peru), a company that research, develops and implements accessible, results‑driven artificial intelligence solutions.

IT WILL INCREASE FROM THE CURRENT 17,000 M² TO 60,000 M² BY THE END OF THE YEAR

The Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, accompanied by the Spanish Government’s Delegate in Catalonia, Carlos Prieto, the Executive President of the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB), Pere Navarro, and the CZFB’s Director General, Blanca Sorigué, presided this morning over the groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of DFactory Barcelona — a strategic project that will triple its total surface area and consolidate the Catalan capital as one of the leading international hubs of Industry 4.0.

With this expansion, DFactory Barcelona will increase from the current 17,000 m² to a total of 60,000 m², thanks to an estimated investment of around 50 million euros. The project foresees the creation of up to 1,500 direct jobs and around 5,000 indirect jobs, strengthening the economic, technological and social impact of the ecosystem in the Barcelona metropolitan area.  Inaugurated at the end of 2021, DFactory Barcelona is currently fully occupied, with 44 companies established in fields such as robotics, sensorics, artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, 3D printing, virtual and augmented reality, blockchain, cybersecurity and nanotechnology. This collaborative environment has become the leading Industry 4.0 ecosystem in southern Europe and one of the major international benchmarks.

At present, the DFactory Barcelona ecosystem generates more than 300 direct jobs and 1,200 indirect jobs — figures that will multiply with the expansion. The companies based there have developed 63 patents and demonstrate a high level of specialisation: 45% of employees hold a university degree and 20% have a PhD. Moreover, 30.9% of the companies within the ecosystem are international, mainly from Europe, the United States and Asia.

During this event, the mayor explained that “today we are laying the first stone of a major project that creates new urban spaces and physically represents the city’s progress in a new area, with a new way of producing that is the way of the future: Industry 4.0,” and added that “we are a country and a metropolitan area that has made industry one of its hallmarks and a key driver of progress and transformation, and we are committed to an industry that is sustainable, compatible with urban life and, moreover, strongly focused on talent, added value, technology and innovation.”

Collboni highlighted that “all the efforts being made by Barcelona City Council, whether on its own or in cooperation with other public administrations or companies, are aimed at guaranteeing the right to stay in Barcelona, because there is affordable housing and because there are spaces of economic opportunity to work in the city.” Finally, he stressed that “at a time when we receive daily news about war and its impact on the economy due to some irresponsible leaders who govern the world, at the local level, those of us who work to guarantee the future of the people in our cities around the world do the exact opposite: not only defending and calling for peace, but also generating projects for prosperity and projects for the future so that people can live better and earn a better living.”

Pere Navarro, Executive President of the CZFB, explained that “the laying of the foundation stone for Phase 2 of DFactory Barcelona symbolizes a decisive step in the industrial transformation of the Zona Franca. We are building a strategic project, unique in the world, that continues to grow in order to consolidate Barcelona as a benchmark for the new industry. Today, 44 technology companies have already committed to this ecosystem, turning DFactory into one of the most important Industry 4.0 hubs in Europe, where talent, technology, and business are connected, and where new projects and partnerships are created.” He added: “At the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona, we work to create the conditions that make industrial innovation possible, generating spaces and ecosystems where companies can grow, collaborate, and adapt to the challenges of the future. This expansion is key to continuing to drive a model that transforms an industrial estate into a District 4.0 and positions Barcelona at the forefront of industrial innovation”.

For her part, Blanca Sorigué, Director General of the CZFB, stated that ‘at DFactory we provide the runway for companies to innovate, connecting different worlds through public–private collaboration. Finally, the Government Delegate in Catalonia, Carlos Prieto, stated during his speech that “the expansion of DFactory Barcelona is very good news for Barcelona, for Catalonia, and for Spain as a whole, because it shows that our industry is not only still alive, but is evolving, innovating, and generating new opportunities. This project transforms a space historically linked to industrial production into a benchmark for Industry 4.0, capable of attracting investment, talent, and highly qualified employment. From the Government of Spain, we support and promote initiatives like this, which connect economic progress, technology, and the future. It is evident that our country is growing, and this is reflected in proposals like this.”

A strategic expansion serving the new economy

The expansion of DFactory Barcelona initially includes the construction of four new buildings. One of the highlights is the Cub building, covering an area of 1,100 m² and conceived as a space for major international events related to Industry 4.0 and the new economy, as well as for public events and community activities. In addition, two further buildings will be constructed, featuring a ground floor dedicated to manufacturing and three upper floors housing laboratories, technology centres and offices. These new spaces will help attract highly innovative companies and foster the creation of synergies, joint projects and new lines of applied research.

The project also includes a services building with dining areas and other facilities, reinforcing the concept of an integrated industrial campus designed to attract both national and international talent. The works are expected to be completed during 2026, with the first companies scheduled to move in at the beginning of 2027.

Health, agro‑industry and advanced technology

In addition to the traditional sectors of Industry 4.0, the expansion of DFactory Barcelona makes a firm commitment to attracting technology companies linked to the fields of health, food and advanced agro‑industry — key sectors of the new economy and closely connected to quality of life and sustainability.

The company has a production plant in El Prat de Llobregat, and its Bitrack robot has been successfully tested in urological surgeries. It is currently in the process of expanding its surgical indications.

RobSurgical designs, develops, and markets a surgical robot that improves efficiency and usability in the operating room and enables hybrid surgeries, combining MIS (minimally invasive surgery) and MIRS (minimally invasive robotic surgery) techniques in a single procedure.  Leading Industry 4.0 from Barcelona

DFactory Barcelona promotes open and collaborative innovation among companies that jointly develop technological projects and solutions. Hon’ble CM Shri Siddaramaiah Inaugurated Bengaluru Skill Summit 2025 Strengthening Karnataka’s Position as a Global Hub for Workforce Innovation and Skilling Excellence

Leaders highlighted collaboration, inclusivity, and innovation as key to preparing India’s workforce for 2030

Bengaluru, 4th November 2025 – The inaugural edition of the Bengaluru Skill Summit 2025 opened today at The Lalit Ashok, Bengaluru, marking the beginning of a two-day dialogue on workforce innovation and future readiness. Shri Siddaramaiah, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka graced the inaugural event joined by Shri D. K. Shivakumar, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, and Dr. Sharanaprakash R. Patil, Hon’ble Minister for Skill Development, Entrepreneurship & Livelihood, Government of Karnataka and Medical Education.

 The Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship & Livelihood (SDEL) is spearheading this initiative to enhance employability and build future-ready skills. The summit is hosted by the Karnataka Skill Development Corporation (KSDC) in collaboration with the Karnataka Skill Development Authority (KSDA), with the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM) as the Knowledge Partner while the event is managed by Trescon Global Business Solutions Pvt.Ltd. It highlights Karnataka’s progressive journey in empowering its youth workforce through innovation and skill-driven initiatives, while also serving as a platform to explore global partnerships and employment opportunities.  Notably, Germany joins as the Country Partner for this edition of the summit.

The inauguration ceremony commenced with a vibrant cultural performance under Karnataka Rajyotsava Sadagara. Smt. Shivakantamma (Kanta) Naik, Chairperson, Karnataka Skill Development Corporation and Karnataka Vocational Training & Skill Development Corporation, delivered the welcome address.

Shri Siddaramaiah, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka during his remarkable speech highlighted, “Skill is not built in a day, it’s a product of patience , perseverance, and continuous learning. He urged students to stay consistent, noting that motivation gets you started, but consistency keeps you growing. Karnataka has always been at the forefront of skilling, being among the first states in India to set up a dedicated Department of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in 2016/17.”

“The Kaushalya Karnataka Yojana took skill development to every corner of the state, surpassing the initial target of training 5 lakh youth. Under the Yuga program, over 1 lakh youth were trained in IT, electronics, and animation, ensuring Karnataka’s lead in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Karnataka government empowers, enables, and uplifts the youth of the future nation.

“Karnataka aims to become the Skill Capital of India and a 1 trillion economy by 2032, powered by talent, technology, and tenacity. The world looks out to Karnataka not only for innovation but for inspiration. Every thought, every heart, and every hand will build the Karnataka of our dreams.” he added.

Highlighting the noble initiative undertaken by Dr. Sharanaprakash R. Patil, Shri D. K. Shivakumar, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka stated, “Wherever innovation happens, Karnataka has always led first. The state has consistently set benchmarks in various sectors. The State of Karnataka is open for discussions, collaborations, and knowledge sharing to strengthen the ecosystem of skill and innovation. The long-term global partnerships, especially with German institutions, have been key to Karnataka’s ongoing success story in innovation and skill development and it will keep growing under the current government’s initiative to skill & upskill the youth workforce.”

Barcelona, November 4, 2025. The Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) is participating in the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC 2025), the world’s most relevant event in the field of smart cities, held from November 4 to 6 at Fira de Barcelona. The CZFB is presenting District 4.0, which is transforming the Zona Franca Industrial Estate in Barcelona with the goal of leading the digital transformation of industry. Within District 4.0, DFactory Barcelona plays a key role as the nerve center of this economic activity area, driving Industry 4.0 through innovation and sustainability, and has already started works to expand its area from the current 17,000 m² to 60,000 m² by the end of 2026.

This morning, the State Special Delegate to the CZFB, Pere Navarro, and the General Director of CZFB, Blanca Sorigué, gathered companies from District 4.0, DFactory Barcelona, and its startup incubators to present the details of the DFactory Barcelona expansion. During the event, they unveiled the model of the expanded Industry 4.0 ecosystem, which will involve an investment of around 50 million euros, and shared the most significant details of this expansion phase. The expansion of DFactory Barcelona will initially include four new buildings: the Cub building (1,100 m²), Building A (24,370 m²), Building B (11,640 m²), and Building D (2,300 m²).

“We have great news: DFactory Barcelona is now fully occupied,” said Pere Navarro. The State Special Delegate to the CZFB added, “This means there is demand and that it is useful for these companies, which are installed in DFactory and are part of Industry 4.0, to have a reference point. A global and worldwide benchmark for Industry 4.0. Therefore, we have decided to move forward with the second phase, and the idea is that this expansion, consisting of four buildings, will be completed by the end of 2026 and that companies interested in locating here can do so at the beginning of 2027.”

Four new buildings

The Cub building will host major cultural, artistic, and musical events in Barcelona, as well as international events related to Industry 4.0 and the new economy, or presentations, conventions, and conferences organized by the ecosystem’s own companies. Buildings A and B will each have four floors: a ground floor for manufacturing and three floors with laboratories, technology centers, and offices. In addition to companies related to robotics, advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, IoT, sensors, Blockchain, etc., with solutions applicable to all types of industries, the aim is also to attract technology companies dedicated to the health and agri-tech sectors.

The DFactory expansion also includes a Building D to provide services to installed companies, such as a dining area or various spaces for physical activity. The forecast is that these expansion works will be completed by the end of 2026 and that new companies can be accommodated at the beginning of 2027.

For her part, the General Director of CZFB, Blanca Sorigué, was ambitious and stated, “We want to be District 4.0 not only of Barcelona, but of the world. We have fertile ground to be a global benchmark because Barcelona is a city connected to the world, that creates and attracts talent, with a great entrepreneurial ecosystem, top-level technology and international development centers, world-renowned universities and business schools… Therefore, all the conditions are in place to lead the digital transformation of industry and attract large corporations investing in technology. This is already happening in District 4.0.”

A meeting point to create connections

CZFB’s participation in the Smart City Expo World Congress also responds to the public company’s desire to foster synergies, projects, and collaboration networks among its business ecosystem to accelerate digital transformation and the competitiveness of the territory. For this reason, CZFB has developed a comprehensive program of demonstrations during the three days of SCEWC 2025, so that companies located in District 4.0, DFactory Barcelona, and the Logistics 4.0 Incubator can showcase their most outstanding activities and developments. Likewise, it will also host various networking activities to strengthen ties within its business community and generate opportunities.
